

Tony P. Motel, age 93, of West Salem, WI, and formerly of Rhinelander, went to Jesus, his Lord and Savior on Friday October 12, 2012, at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse, WI, with his loving family at his side. He was born on September 17, 1919 in Ino, WI, to Andrew and Verona (Arendos) Motil. He graduated from Ashland High School, and had served his country during WWII in the Air Corps Engineers from 1942 until 1945 in the Pacific Operations where he was stationed in New Guinea and the Phillipines. He was united in marriage to the former Helen Weber in 1948 in Rhinelander. Together they raised their family of five children. Tony was employed at the Rhinelander Paper Company for 32 years, and was a member of the Rhinelander United Methodist Church. Tony enjoyed traveling, especially to Arizona, Chicago, and California. He also enjoyed dancing, golf, the Green Bay Packers, Brewers, and Badgers. His favorite song was “Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree”.
He is survived by two sons: Robin Motel of Atascadero, CA, and Dan Motel of Schaumburg, IL, three daughters; Sally (John) Wolfe of Buckeye, AZ, Jill (Ed) Skubal of West Salem, WI, and Lynn (Tim) Smith of Laveen, AZ, four grandchildren: Courtney, Jane, Jody, and Jennifer, three great-grandchildren: Janie, Joey, and Andrew, and by one sister: Dorothy of California. Tony is further survived by nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife of 58 years, Helen, and by 6 brothers and 4 sisters.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 26, 2012 at 11 AM at the Hildebrand-Russ Funeral Home with Rev. Rebecca Niese officiating. Visitation will be Friday morning from 10AM until the time of the service. Inurnment will take place after the service at Forest Home Cemetery with Military honors.
