Gladys Elizabeth Butterfield

Gladys E. Butterfield, age 101, died Friday, April 6, 2012 at her home surrounded by loving family. She was born on May 27, 1910 to Julius and Mary (Scheidegger) Lassig in Rhinelander. Gladys graduated Rhinelander High school in 1928. She married Robert Butterfield on September 15, 1935. Gladys enjoyed gardening, knitting and her greatest love was her family. Gladys’s secret for living a long and satisfying life included this advice: Eat well – Help others – Go to church – Keep busy.

Gladys is survived by her daughters, Gail (Fred) Bloom and Jane (David) Bruckner both of Rhinelander, six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Robert in 1972.

A memorial mass will be Saturday, April 14, 2012 at St. Augustine of Hippo Episcopal church at 11:00 A.M. with Father Dean Einerson. Visitation will be one hour prior to mass at 10:00 A.M. at church. Inurnment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established and may be directed to the family.
