
James Cecil Schuh, age 76, of Rhinelander, passed peacefully into eternal life at St. Mary’s Hospital with his wife Phyllis and their nephew and niece Doug and Karen Hurlbutt at his side, on Tuesday, August 9, 2011. He was born on November 13, 1934, in Elcho, Wisconsin to the late Cecil and Patricia Schuh. Jim attended school and spent much of his childhood in Monico. He graduated from Three Lakes High School and then attended Stevens Pint College for a year before enlisting in the U.S. Army for three years. After his honorable discharge, he attended Stevens Point College, where he met his wife, Phyllis Schwab. Jim then transferred to Milwaukee School of Engineering where he earned a degree in Industrial Engineering. Jim and Phyllis were married on August 22, 1959 and moved to Green Bay, where he worked for FMC as a production planning manager. After his retirement in 1989, they moved to Rhinelander. Jim loved music and was involved in singing in choirs, beginning in high school. He especially enjoyed singing in the choir and men’s group at Nativity of Our Lord Church in Rhinelander. In addition to his singing he enjoyed woodworking, fishing, traveling, camping hunting and spending time with his friends and neighbors. While he lived in DePere, WI, he was an active member of the Knights of Columbus.
Jim is survived by his wife, Phyllis of Rhinelander and many nieces and nephews, uncles and aunts and one sister-in-law, Marian Schlueter of Rhinelander. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Keith and Brian.
A Memorial Mass for Jim will be offered at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at Nativity of Our Lord (St Joe’s Site) with Father John Gerritts officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church. Rhinelander’s Hildebrand Russ Funeral Home (715)365-4343 is assisting the family with arrangements.
