Ruth Alice Quade

It is with saddened hearts, that we must say goodbye to Ruth A. Quade, age 75. She was a loving wife, Mom, and Grandma. She passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rhinelander. Ruth was born on March 24, 1937 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin to Eric and Erna (Hoefs) Reiher. She married Donald D. Quade on February 15, 1958. They lived in the Milwaukee area until 1973, when they moved their family to Rhinelander to live in Don’s childhood home on Lake George. Ruth raised 4 children and later worked as the “Sample Lady” at area grocery stores, which she truly enjoyed. Mom’s passions were reading, baking the best pies known to man, bird-watching, going to church, gardening, and talking about her cat, Inky.

She is survived by: her children, Steven (Terry) Quade, Susan (Steven) Hansen, Michael (Patti) Quade, and Jennifer (Michael) White; grandchildren Michelle (John) Schnoor, Brian Quade, Amy (Chris) Tift, Lisa Hansen, Matthew, Benjamin, and Bradley Quade, and Karen White; and her sister, Merita (Lynn) Messer. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Don.

We would like to say a very special thank you to Nu-Roc Community Healthcare in Laona. Mom lived with them for the last couple of years in their Alzheimer’s unit and truly enjoyed calling it home. To all the staff at Nu-Roc (and especially to Connie), we wish to express our sincere gratitude, and we want to say thank you for the loving care and friendship that everyone gave to our mother.

Funeral services for Ruth will be on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rhinelander with Pastor Norm Peterson officiating. Friends may call at church Tuesday, morning from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will immediately follow the service at Forest Home Cemetery in Rhinelander.
