

After graduating from Rosenwald High School in Luling, Texas, Donald was drafted in 1965, and bravely served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War until 1971 where he earned the rank of Corporal. During his time in the Army, he proudly earned several awards and commendations, including the Army Commendation Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal.
Following his service, Donald went on to enjoy a successful career as a Truck Driver for several entities, including the City of Garland, for over 38 years. He had a strong work ethic and took pride in what he did.
Donald was predeceased by his parents George and Mattie Bell Haynes, and his 6 siblings.
Left to cherish his memory are his son Dominique Tatum, daughter-in-law Cheryl, and son Dominique Tatum, Jr.; son, Donald Haynes, Jr.; his 7 brothers and sisters; and many other extended family members who will miss him dearly.

Donald's visitation will take place on Monday, April 8th from 4 - 8 pm at Sparkman Funeral Home, followed by his Funeral Service at Sparkman Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 9th at 11:30 am, and Military Honors and Committal at DFW National Cemetery at 1:30 pm.
Guests are encouraged to line up in the cemetery lane no earlier than 20 minutes prior to the service time, please.
