Ervin was raised in Buda, Texas, and attended Buda High School, graduating in 1947. From 1951 to 1959, he served in the U.S. Air Force Atomic Bomb Program at Sandia Base in New Mexico.
In 1951, he married Arlene Crane, and together they had two children, Robert and Debbie. Ervin worked as a Civil Engineer for Tecon Corporation and Uvalde Construction Company for more than 29 years.
In his spare time, Ervin enjoyed the outdoors and the simple joys of life. Hunting was one of his greatest passions, and he cherished the many days spent hunting deer, quail, and pheasant with his brothers Walter, Chester, and Dutch. When he wasn't in the field, he enjoyed working in his yard and garden, taking pride in keeping everything just right at the home he built and lived in beginning in 1966.
Ervin also loved taking family vacations to the beach and coaching his son Robert's baseball team. His family and friends will remember him as a wonderful storyteller who could capture a room with his tales and bring smiles to everyone around him. He loved to laugh and had a special way of making others laugh along with him. Ervin had a lively spirit, whether he was square dancing or simply visiting with friends, family, and neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Isidor and Annie Armbruster; his five brothers, Herman, Dutch, Walter, Chester, and Glenn; his wife of 38 years, Arlene; and his son, Robert Armbruster.
He is survived by his daughter, Debbie, and his granddaughter, Kendall Armbruster, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Ervin Armbruster was a cherished member of his family and neighborhood. He will be missed by all who know and love him.
