Georgieann Louise Schmitt

Georgieann was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Andrew Paul, and son, Michael. She is survived by her brother Andrew, of Bolingbrook, IL; son Thomas, of Austin, TX, grandchildren Sydney and Daniel; son Steven (Rebecca) and grandchildren Timothy and Victoria of DeForest, WI; son Kevin (Nikki) and grandson Owen of Tampa, FL; and daughter Keri, of Marion, IA.

Georgieann was born on September 24th, 1942, to Andrew Paul and Jessie Paul neé Mroczkowski in Morton Grove, IL. She graduated from Mallinckrodt High School in 1960 and earned her R.N. in 1963 from Saint Francis School of Nursing of Evanston, IL.

In 1963, Georgieann married and settled in Marion, IA, to raise her five children. She worked as an ER Nurse at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids and later earned a B.A in Business Administration at Coe College, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a B.A. in Business Administration. Georgieann worked in Human Resources as a nurse recruiter at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids and later earned her M.B.A. in Human Resources from the University of Iowa in 1995.

In 1998, Georgieann settled in Plano, TX, where she loved cruising around in her red convertible Mustang GT. Georgieann enjoyed being around people, easily making friends, and chatting with complete strangers about her beloved Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and Iowa Hawkeyes. She was ecstatic whenever the Cubs or Bears won a championship and was quick to talk about Chicago with anyone she met. Of course, she knew that “there’s always next year.”

Georgieann greatly enjoyed cooking and baking. She loved needlecrafts, spending many happy hours sewing, knitting, and doing cross stitch. Those who knew Georgieann will miss her ready laugh and wit.

A memorial Mass will be said in Georgieann’s honor at St Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Plano, TX, on Monday, March 27th at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Georgieann’s name to the Assistance League of Greater Collin County at algcc.org.
