

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gwendolyn Hooks, who departed from this world on March 14, 2024, at the age of 66. Gwendolyn was born on October 1, 1957, in Oakland, CA where she spent her formative years and touched the lives of many with her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love.
Between the years of 1975-1980 Gwen was blessed with 4 beautiful children; Myesha Dennis, Raymond Royal, Tenecia Royal, and Lakitha Royal. Throughout the years, Gwendolyn was blessed with 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, who brought boundless joy and laughter into her life.
In 1994, Gwendolyn married her husband, John Hooks and soon after they relocated to Dallas, TX in pursuit of happiness and shared dreams where they built a life of love and companionship. Gwendolyn's love and support were the cornerstone of their marriage, and her presence brought light and happiness to all those around here.
Throughout her life, Gwendolyn faced challenges with grace and courage, including a battle with breast cancer, from which she emerged as a 19-year survivor.
Gwendolyn will be remembered for her genuine kindness, selflessness, and the love she poured into everything she did. She was a beacon of strength, grace, and motherly love, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
As we bid farewell to Gwendolyn, let us hold onto the precious memories and the legacy of love she leaves behind. Though she may no longer walk among us, her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved her dearly.
Gwendolyn Hooks will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her family, friends, and all who were touched by her presence. May she rest in eternal peace, knowing that her love will continue to shine bright in the lives of those she leaves behind.
Gwendolyn will join her mother, Helen Ray, in the family crypt in Colma, CA at a later date.
The Hooks family is having a Memorial Service for Gwendolyn at Sparkman Funeral Home on Friday, April 19, 2024 at 2:00 pm.
