Harry A Thompson

bedside. He was born June 24, 1931, in Raymondville, Texas to Chester Thompson and Della

Mae Harrelson. As a teenager, he delivered newspapers "barefoot and bareback" on a bicycle.

In his teens, he helped his dad in the feed store. When a senior in high school, he drove a

school bus, as well as worked in the cotton gins and compresses, and drove a trailer truck. After

graduation, he began working at Diamond Shamrock Chemical where his career spanned 42

years. After retirement, he liked to travel all over the United States.

Harry married Nadean Garrett on March 12, 1951, and had three daughters -- Barbara Gail,

Brenda Gay, and Beverly Gina. After Nadean passed away, Harry married Lucy Rozzell on

January 3,1998.They lived in Kingwood and Richardson, Texas.

Harry is survived by his wife, Lucy, of Richardson,Texas; daughter Barbara Wright and husband,

Robert, of Linden,Texas; daughter Brenda Thompson of LaPorte,Texas; and daughter Beverly

Atkins and husband, John, of Noblesville, Indiana. Harry also had five step-daughters, 13

grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. Harry is preceded in death by his first wife, Nadean

Thompson; brother, Marvin "Boots" Thompson; sister, Agnes Roberts; brother, Tommy

Thompson; and great-grandson, Ethan Harrison McCullin.

Visitation will be Saturday, October 31, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Sparkman Funeral

Home, 1029 S. Greenville Ave in Richardson, Texas. A memorial service will be held to

celebrate Harry's life at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 1, at South Garland Baptist Church,

1330 E. Centerville Rd. in Garland, Texas. A family graveside service will be on Monday,

November 2 in Pasadena, TX.

Pall bearers will be his grandson-in-laws, Jason Morrison, Nathan McCullin, Nathan Siner,

David Furrow, Zane Colvin and Brent Fuller.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kidney Foundation of choice.
