Helen Elaine St. Clair, 83, of Richardson, TX, passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2023. She was born on August 20, 1940, in Canton, IL to Carl Kenneth Hedden and Helen Irene (Ford) Hedden. She was the oldest of eight children.
Helen graduated from Canton High School and attended nursing school until she married the love of her life, Kenneth L. St. Clair, on November 28, 1959. When her children were older, she attended El Centro College and later pursued a Fine Arts Degree at North Texas University (UNT). Helen was very civic-minded and was a member of Leadership Richardson, and a past President of the League of Women Voters-Richardson. Creativity and her keen sense of style showed in everything she did from the way she dressed to the decorating of her home, whose pictures were featured in the Richardson Daily News. She was a talented artist in many media, including drawing, watercolor, sculpting, and pottery; and she previously owned her own interior design business. Helen was an excellent cook, had a passion for art, antiques, and reading, and enjoyed traveling with her husband, Kenneth; especially a memorable trip to Luxembourg. She valued her relationships with family and friends and kept in touch with “The Lunch Bunch,” a group of her long-time League friends. Helen touched many lives, in many ways, oftentimes with her delightful sense of humor. She was a one-of-a-kind person, and there will never be another like her.
Helen was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Jim, Ken, Bill, and Bruce Hedden; and sister, Nell (Hedden) Lather. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Kenneth St. Clair; daughter, Debbie DeBruin of Richardson, TX; son, Mike St. Clair and wife, Mona of Mesquite, TX; daughter, Janet Campbell and husband, Randy of Richardson, TX; grandchildren, Michelle Campbell of Clermont, FL, Lindsey and Taylor DeBruin, of Richardson, TX, and Christopher Campbell and wife, Kim of Carrollton, TX; brother, John Hedden and wife, Kathy of Appleton, WI; sister, Sherry Riegsecker and husband, Merle of Archbold, OH; sister-in-law, Marla Hedden of Canton, IL; and a lifetime of friends.
Helen will be greatly missed in the days ahead, but her spirit and memories will live on within each of us who were privileged to have her in our lives.
Celebration of Life will be at 2 p.m. Friday, December 8, 2023, at Sparkman Funeral Home, 1029 South Greenville Avenue, Richardson, TX. A committal service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, December 11, 2023, at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX
