

James A. Simms, former Tahlequah resident, died December 31, 2017 in Dallas, TX after a short illness. James was born in Lander, WY on October 18, 1980 and moved to Tahlequah with his parents when he was 4 yrs. old. He attended elementary, junior and senior high school in Tahlequah, graduating in 1999. He received his undergraduate degree from OSU in 2003. He then studied at the OU College of Law where he received his J.D. in 2006.
Jim leaves behind his fiancee, Monica Ramirez of Dallas, TX, parents, John and Fay Simms of Grove, OK, brother and sister-in-law Alex and Annie Simms and their children of Santa Barbara, CA. Additional loved ones include an aunt in Kansas, an aunt and uncle in Florida as well as numerous friends in Oklahoma and Texas.
Jim was admitted to the Oklahoma Bar in 2006 and practiced as an attorney for 5 years in Tahlequah. In 2017 he headed out for the city of Dallas when he accepted a position at Brashier and Crosby P.L.L.C. in Fort Worth, TX. There he rendered oil and gas title opinions – work which he very much enjoyed. Jim found a second home in Dallas and will be profoundly missed. His gentle spirit, stunning wit and just heart were undeniable.
A memorial service will be held at the chapel at Sparkman Richardson Funeral Home, 1029 South Greenville Ave., Richardson, TX 75081 on Saturday January 6, 2017, at 2:00pm followed by a reception at the home of his fiancee in Dallas, TX. Interment of the cremains will take place at the Welch- Graham Cemetery, near Seminary, MS at a later date.
