She was born on October 8, 1931, to the late Barnett & Jessie (Bailey) Moore. JoAnn was raised in Dallas, where her dad ran a local cafe and was well-known for Denny Moore Stew. JoAnn met Randall Lee Talley at Dueback’s Skating Rink and she quickly fell head over heels in love with him and they were married in 1949. After 60 years in Richardson they were known as Richardson Royalty.
While raising her children, JoAnn spent countless hours cooking and running concession stands for the Richardson Lions Club Rinky Dinky Football Club. Family was always a priority for JoAnn and once she became a grandmother, she attended every event she could to support the grandchildren she dearly loved.
JoAnn worked in the tax office at Richardson ISD and retired from there after 20 years of service. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Richardson, where she enjoyed Sunday School and other activities. Through the church, JoAnn crocheted baby blankets and baby clothes which were donated to those in need. She was known as “The Machine” for her high-speed crocheting and even was found crocheting up until the last week of her life.
JoAnn lived a life full of grace. She had a heart of gold and truly enjoyed serving and blessing others. Her generosity and love for God and family will always be remembered. JoAnn will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.
In addition to her parents, JoAnn was preceded in death by her brother, R.B. “Moose” Moore. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Donna Talley Smith & Klaus Schwarz of Royce City; son and daughter-in-law, Randy & Beth Talley of Rockwall; four grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services will be private for the family. Memorial donations may be made to the Singing Men of North Central Texas at www.smonct.org by scrolling down to “Support the Singing Men” and clicking “Donate”.
