What an honor it was to work with Dr. Leveno to care for Parkland’s patients. I consider myself lucky to have met him early in my career as an administrator; he taught me that with partnership, you can accomplish great things.  I will always remember & appreciate his words of wisdom & support when I needed them most.  His dedication, intelligence, & leadership will be missed.

It is difficult to put into words my relationship with Ken. He was one of the most influential men in my life. We worked together for over twenty years at Parkland. He taught me about unwavering commitment to poor women and their families. His leadership was about science, quality and getting your priorities straight in the midst of chaos and competing forces. You always knew where you stood with him; and where he thought you ought to be standing. I learned so much from him. I am so very sad. Please accept my heartfelt condolences Margie and family.

I am so saddened by the death of Dr Leveno. I worked with him for 30 years and I could not even begin to count the number of times we sat in each other’s offices and solved problems and planned great new initiatives.  He was a true hero. He cared for the poor and disenfranchised and he did so with a fierce passion. There will never be another leader like him. He was the best. My thoughts are with Joe and the rest of Dr. Leveno’s family. I enjoyed my every interaction with Dr. Leveno in my days at UTSW/Parkland c 1988-92. He mastered the field of obstetrics. I will always remember his pipe, plaid scarf, humph, slight smile and subtle sense of humor while being fully observant of all events on the intense Labor deck. I had the pleasure of working  with Dr. Leveno for 25 years as his Admin Assistant at UT Southwestern.   I took final retirement in 2010.  I regret I lost contact over the years.  However, I must say it was an honor and a privilege working with Dr. Leveno all those years.  I got to know his wife, Margie, and watched his children grow up to be outstanding professionals over the years.    I felt a great loss and sadness  when I received the news of his passing.   My deepest sympathy goes to Margie and their family.
