

Dr. Hunter was a tenured Professor at The University of Texas Arlington in the school of social work for 42 years, retiring in May of 2013. She received her PhD in social work from Ohio State University. Ski has published nine books, 39 journal articles/book chapters, and 36 other publications/other proceedings. Her work was published by top journals and publishers in her field such as NASW Press. The topics such as midlife women and LBGT youths and adults led to her being a popular speaker at professional organizations, local neighborhood groups and churches. Ski received many awards for her teaching including the Outstanding Educator of America Award and the recipient of the UTA Commendation in 2013. She was the recipient of NASW Lifetime Achievement Award in 2013.
Survivors include her sister Martha Mattay and husband Carl Mattay, and their four children, Nieces Machell McDowell, Miriam Fretheim, and Nephews Mark Mattay, Marshall Mattay.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00pm, Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Sparkman Richardson Funeral Home, 1029 S. Greenville Ave, Richardson, TX 75081.
Funeral services will be 10:00am, Friday, December 4, 2015 at Grove Hill Funeral Home, 4118 Samuell Blvd., Dallas, TX 75228.
