Mina Eleanor Sennott, 95, passed away on December 17, 2012, at her home in Dallas, Texas. Mina was a resident of St. Louis for most of her life, and a Memorial Mass will be held in her honor on April 26, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis, 4431 Lindell Blvd., St. Louis, Missouri.
Mina was born to Clara Magdalen (Ziebold) and Harry Brey Sennott in Danville, Illinois, on February 7, 1917, and lived much of her youth in Waterloo, Illinois. She graduated with honors from the University of Missouri School of Journalism and became a professional editor. After a stint with the Bemis Corp., she ran her own editorial service. Always ahead of her time, Mina was a highly capable and successful businesswoman.
Always very involved in the civic and cultural life of St. Louis, Mina was a longtime supporter of the arts, the zoo and local sports teams. She celebrated her Irish heritage through active membership in the St. Louis Irish Arts, and performing traditional Irish Dancing into her early 80s. Mina was devoted to her Catholic faith and was a tour guide at the Cathedral Basilica for many years before relocating to Dallas in 2005. She had a true intellectual curiosity and literally travelled the world, visiting virtually every continent and making lifelong friendships.
Mina was predeceased by her parents, and siblings John Stephen Sennott II, MD; Harry Sennott, Clare Crittenden, and Evelyn Sennott. She leaves behind her sister, Jane Coakley, 19 nieces and nephews, many friends and extended family members. Mina was very dedicated to her family and was an excellent role model in every way. We will truly miss her wisdom, humor and independent spirit.
Condolences and memories may be left at SparkmanRichardson.com For those wishing to make memorial donations in Mina’s honor, the family suggests giving to the Saint Louis Art Museum or the Saint Louis Zoological Park.
