Rex was blessed in his lifetime with a loving family; survived by his wife of 69 years, Margaret Anne Sells, daughters Sandi Sells Meyers and husband Bob, Trudi Sells, son Rex Sells III and wife Connie, grand children Cameron Sells and wife Jackie and granddaughter Grace Lee Sells. Rex was preceded by his parents Grace Lee and Rex M Sells Sr.
Rex honorably served his country as a 1st Lieutenant, pilot in the U.S. Army Air Corps and during World War II he was stationed in Black Pool England where he met his wife Margaret. After the war he came to Dallas in 1946 where he worked at LTV for 25 years, moved to St. Louis to work for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft until retirement, then returned to Dallas to be with his family.
His family was his first love and music was his second. He played the trumpet in a big band during the war and continued to play long after with Biff Murphy and the Plaids, and in his later years with the Kings of Swing. Rex was a patient, loving and humble husband, father and grandfather who will truly be missed.
