Rosanne was born in Chicago, IL on December 20th, 1934, to parents Joseph and Mary Radcliffe. Joseph died when Rosanne was only 3 years old, placing a heavy burden on the family. Mary raised Rosanne and her three siblings as a single female in the 1930s and 1940s. Her efforts and sacrifices were heroic and served as an inspiration to Rosanne, instilling in Rosanne formative traits that helped her become the woman we knew and loved. Most notably, Rosanne valued the importance of perseverance and hard work, she had a never-ending willingness to extend her kindness to others and she relied on her faith.
Rosanne graduated from Chicago’s Immaculata High School and attended two years of college before taking to the skies. Rosanne’s service attitude and cheerful disposition were perfect attributes for being a flight attendant for American Airlines. Rosanne loved flying for American, but she loved her future husband more. Rosanne married Jack Wensinger in August 1958 and they shared 64 wondrous years together. Their early years were full of corporate relocations and young children. When Rosanne and Jack moved to Dallas in 1971, they likely had no idea this would be their last stop. However, Dallas proved to be a great place for them to raise their family and watch their kids grow and mature. Rosanne embraced her role as matriarch of the family and carefully watched her kids and grandchildren grow-up and have families of their own. Family was job #1 to Rosanne and she had a special bond with each family member.
Rosanne was preceded in death by her favorite dog, Maggie. She is survived by her brother Pat Radcliffe. Most importantly she looks forward to one day being reunited with her husband, Jack. She is survived by her four children: jack and spouse Terri Sue Wensinger, Gretchen and spouse Tim Hart, Tom Wensinger, and Ann and spouse David O’Connor. Rosanne, known as Tootsie to her ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren, was passionate about life and always willing to lend a hand. She was active in her neighborhood association, and her group of former flight attendants – The Kiwis. Rosanne was a devoted volunteer for the Salvation Army and Meals on Wheels and was often seen working out at the Town North YMCA. She loved her family dinner’s at Mia’s and she never missed the opportunity to pawn off one of her vegetable quesadillas to a nearby family member.
The celebration of her life will be held Friday, April 21st at St. Rita Catholic Church at 1pm. Rosanne will be missed. In lieu of flowers please make donations to The Visiting Nurses Association of Texas.
