Sarah Christine Smith Hux

Sarah Christine Smith Hux was born on October 4, 1933 in Brookhaven, Mississippi and departed this world to be with the Heavenly Father June 7, 2020. Christine was born on a farm and learned how to live off the land, including how to milk cows and wring a chicken’s neck. She met and fell in love with Billy Dennis Hux and they made a life together, which included five children – Sue, Glenn, Denise “Pee Wee”, Judi and Jenni. They didn’t have much in this world but they did everything for their children and made a home where they and their families could come to, always. Christine devoted her life to her family, and was always there to lend a helping hand, give advice, cheer you on, or be a shoulder to cry on. In her later years she also had a long and distinguished career in the mortgage lending business. She was an amazing woman and will be truly missed, but we are comforted in knowing that she is in the presence of the Lord Most High and is with her “Dennis” again along with her baby Sarah Denise, “Pee Wee”. We love you Mama – Mammaw – Little Mammaw, and we will see you again someday and dance with you on the streets of gold in Heaven. Christine is survived by her sister, Irene Cutrer and sister-in-law Iris Smith, along with her children, Sue Phillips, Glenn Hux, Judi Hux and Jenni Durbin; grandchildren, Eric Phillips, Courtney Phillips-Long, Tanner Hux, Kyle Hux, Alex Hux, Chandler Hux, Timothy Maroney, Amanda Durbin and Haylee Durbin; and great grandchildren, Wyatt Phillips, Seren Long, Chance Maroney and Shayne Maroney.
