Susan Murray Mitchell

Susan is survived by her sons, Michael Mitchell (wife Kat), and Bartley Mitchell (wife Angela, and daughters, Ava and Emmi); her brother Charles Murray; and her sister Martha Martinelli. She is predeceased by her husband James Mitchell (Jim); her brother Don Murray; and her parents Charles and Grace Murray.

Susan was born on January 4, 1944 in Dover, Ohio. She graduated from nursing school as a registered nurse, became a cardiac nurse in Houston, Texas, where she then met James Mitchell. They were married in 1967. They moved to Dallas, where she became a postpartum nurse, and they lived with their sons until the unexpected death of Jim in 2000. Since her retirement, Susan has dedicated her time to her friends, family, and especially rescue animals.

Susan enjoyed reading and cross snitching. One of her prized pastimes was watching prime shows on TV with her sons, M*A*S*H* being the favorite. She loved animals and cared for many rescue pets over the years. Everyone who knew her describes her as the most kind and caring friends you could have. Susan was an especially good listener, and always made you feel special with a card or gift. Her wicked sense of humor kept the room laughing.

Susan's memorial service and celebration of her life will take place on July 16, 2022, at 11:00 AM in the Sparkman Funeral Home Chapel (1029 S Greenville Ave. Richardson, TX 75081). In lieu of flowers, Susan would have appreciated donations to the Wounded Warrior Project.
