

Susan Paulsen, born on October 2, 1935, in Decatur, Alabama, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, December 16, 2023. She was a woman of grace, compassion, and unwavering love, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be etched in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Susan was the youngest daughter of Albert G. and Patricia “Patty” Danforth, and sister of Laurie Hatler. While living in Elizabeth, New Jersey she met the love of her life, Henry Clayton Paulsen II. In 1957, Susan and Henry exchanged vows and together they embarked on a journey marked by love, laughter, commitment, and the warmth of true companionship. Their union blessed them with two children, Dorothy Hurwitz and Henry “Hank” Paulsen III, and four grandchildren – Susan Hurwitz, Elizabeth Hurwitz, Hunter Paulsen, and Henry Clayton Paulsen IV.
A proud alumna of Emory University, Susan earned her degree in Elementary Education, dedicating herself to enriching young minds. Her passion for education was a reflection of her innate desire to make a positive impact on the lives of others, and she carried this ethos into every aspect of her life. Additionally, as a talented pianist, she shared her love of music with everyone in her life.
Susan Paulsen will be remembered for the love she generously shared with her family and friends. Her kindness, wisdom, and gentle spirit touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Let us celebrate a life well-lived and a spirit that will forever remain in our hearts.
