

William E. Gibbons III (Bill) passed into the arms of Jesus on December 29, 2025. Family and lifelong friends knew him as “Bill Ned.” He was born to William E. Jr. and Catheryne R. Gibbons in Richmond, Virgina, on July 2, 1942. His family relocated to Oak Cliff where Bill grew up and graduated from Adamson High School. Bill joined the Texas National Guard and was a Helicopter Crew Chief at Fort Hood. Bill earned his BBA in Marketing from North Texas State University (UNT) in 1967 and was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. He was employed by Texas Instruments and retired as Purchasing Manager from Teccor Electronics.
Bill was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was member of the “West Texas Hunting Club,” in San Angelo for 30 years, and “West Lakes Fishing Club” in Hawkins, TX for 17 years. Bill’s hobbies included fly-tying, woodworking, Jeep restoration, reading, antique tool collecting, and being with family and friends. He especially enjoyed amassing “treasures” in his garage. Bill was a member of The United Disciples Christian Church in Richardson, where he was part of “The Monday Crew.”
Bill joins his parents Bill and Katie in Heaven, as well as brothers Joe and Tommy, brother-in-law Charles E. Finsley, and many lifetime friends. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Suzi, his devoted son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Holly Gibbons, sisters-in-law Marie (Joe) Gibbons, Denise (Tommy) Gibbons, and Rosa Finsley. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Catherine, Ben, Joe, and Christi Gibbons, nephew-in-law, Gregory Finsley, and 6 great-nephews and great-nieces.

A “Farewell Service” will be held Saturday, January 3, 2026 at 1:00 pm at Sparkman Hillcrest, Richardson with Dr. Ken Bateman officiating. The service will be followed by a light reception in the Sparkman Funeral Home Fireside Lounge until 2:30 pm. Graveside services will follow at Restland Cemetery at 3:00 pm.
