Esther Virginia Dennis

Born July 12, 1929 on the Eastern Shore of Maryland to Talmage Boise and Valley Beauchamp, went home to the Lord on the morning of March 23, 2017.

Blessed with 87 years of life Esther brought love, concern, and a kind heart to all people she met. A child of the Great Depression, Esther graduated from high school then interned at Johns Hopkins where she became a registered nurse. Soon after, as a nurse, Esther met while caring for the love of her life; Clay E. Dennis. The two were married August 14, 1951 and remained devoted to each other until his death 54 years later in December of 2005.

Together Esther and Clay raised three children while living in several states, finally calling Jacksonville, FL home for over 33 years until Clay’s death. Esther would eventually move to another Jacksonville – Jacksonville, NC – where she would live the remaining years of her life.

Esther was a devoted and loving grandmother who watched her grandchildren Zachary and Ailina Dennis while they were young. Esther also attended baseball, football and basketball games played by Logan and Lane Stealey while living in Rotunda, FL.

Esther loved gardening and became an accomplished gardener everywhere she lived including a garden she maintained at Liberty Commons Assisted Living in Jacksonville, NC.

She was a devoted follower of Our Lord Jesus Christ and in later years established and led a bible study at Liberty Commons for her fellow residents.

Esther is survived by her children Michael (Maureen) Dennis of Richlands, NC; Betsy (Michael) Jones of Punta Gorda, FL; Mark (Meleah) Dennis of Jacksonville, FL, and eight grandchildren (Logan, Lane, Zachary, Ailina, Avery, Serena, Justin and Rachel) and many grand-dogs.

Additionally, Esther is survived by four brothers living on the Delmarva Peninsula; Boise, Walter and Donald Beauchamp of Maryland and George Beauchamp of Delaware.

Memorial services will be held at Liberty Commons Assisted Living, 3045 Henderson Dr Jacksonville, NC on Saturday April 1, 2017 time to-be-decided. A second memorial service will be held in Maryland at a later date.
