Berthella Jefferson

Evangelist Berthella Jefferson, age 77, of Hercules, California passed away on Wednesday, March 24, 2021. She was born the eleventh child out of fourteen siblings and raised in Clinton, LA on March 17, 1944.

Evangelist Jefferson graduated from in 1962 before moving to CA in 1965, where she lived with her sister, Pastor Ella C. Jefferson Davis. She joined the Ephesian Church Of God In Christ in Berkeley, CA under the leadership of the late Bishop E. E. Cleveland, Sr. and then, accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. There she served as president of the Y. W. C. C. (Young Women's Christian Council) and was also, the Young Adult Sunday School Class.

She attended Laney College in Oakland, CA for a short time before finding employment with the United States Postal Service where she was employed for over thirty-five years until her retirement in 2002.

Evangelist Jefferson loved the Lord and sought Him diligently, daily. For a short time, she attended the BFS Bible School, which availed her the opportunity to minister in AK, IL, CA, and WA state.

Additionally, she has pastored a home-based church for five years and had attended numerous Christian Conferences across America for over twenty years.

Evangelist Jefferson made sure that anyone in her reach who wanted to listen and learn about the Word of God, could do just that. She was constantly ministering to all of those who wished to hear the gospel message and, especially, made it a point to visit nursing homes and pray for those sick and shut-in whenever she could. She believed the scripture in Job 10:12-13 (KJV), which states, 12- Thou hast granted me life and favour, and thy visitation hath preserved my spirit. 13- And these things hast thou hid in thine heart: I know that this is with thee.

Evangelist Berthella Jefferson leaves to cherish her memory, her son- Eric Jefferson of Hercules, CA. One brother- Malakia Jefferson; Sisters - Edith Luckett of Seattle, WA; Ella Davis of Lancaster, CA; Retha McKinney of Vallejo, CA; Mattie George of Seattle, WA; and countless nieces, nephews, and friends.

An interment for Evangelist Jefferson will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 following the Celebration of Life at Rolling Hills Memorial Park, 4100 Hilltop Dr, Richmond, California 94803-1720.
