

Jerry Leong Yow was born in San Francisco, CA and raised in Oakland, CA. He graduated from Oakland Technical High School.
He met the love of his life, Clarice Richardson at a Gallen-Kamp shoe store, where he was employed as the Assistant Manager and she was a customer. Within months the couple dated and eagerly, planned to start their new lives together. They married on October 12, 1980 in Oakland, CA. Brought into their union were three daughters namely, Rechelle, Mechelle, and Naisa.
Jerry and his wife shared a strong faith in God. As a result, he worked alongside her serving the congregation and body of Christ at Holy Ghost Deliverance Temple, their family church, located in Oakland, CA.
Jerry never meet a stranger and was more than willing to assist, anyone who truly needed help, in any way, that he could.
Though he loved his favorite foods and sports, Christmas movies and the Temptations Jerry’s favorite role in life was being a devoted, loving husband, father and grandfather (affectionately called “Paw-Paw.”) He treasured his time with his family. He never failed to be like ‘glue’ that held everything together.
On March 12, 2024, Jerry answered the Master’s Heavenly call… “Though he is absent from this earthly body… he is present with the Lord” – 2 Corinthians 5:8
Jerry will always be remembered for his laugh, and his dad jokes. “We couldn't have asked for a better husband, father, Paw-Paw and good friend. We were truly blessed and will miss Jerry every day.”
Jerry Yow was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Helen Leong Yow.
Jerry’s memory will live on in the hearts of all those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Pastor Clarice Yow; his daughters, Rechelle (Travis) Dew, Mechelle Dowell - Yow and Naisa Richardson Yow; three grandsons, James Danzy, Timothy Lincoln, and Samil Aguirre; one granddaughter, Naysa Yow; three great grandsons, Lester Morales, Timothy Lincoln, III, and James Danzy, Jr; a host of brothers and sisters, Gordon (Pearl) Leong, Hanford Yow, Isabel Yow, Katherine Lee, Lucy Hallinan, Morgan Yow, Nancy Leong, Timothy (Heidi) Leong; and nieces, nephews and dear friends.
