Ann Woolard of North Chesterfield, Virginia, has passed into Heaven’s arms. Born Joyce Ann Harlow on May 11th, 1933, Ann slipped quietly away in the night of August 31, 2022, as she rested peacefully at Westminster Canterbury Richmond. She achieved 89 years of age. Married to William Boyd Woolard, Sr. (Bill), her high school sweetheart, she joins him now in rest.
Ann is survived by her loving brother, Richard W. Harlow (Dick and Kay); her precious aunt, Phyllis Davis Whitaker; her four children, W. Boyd Woolard, Jr. (Boyd and Tree), David E. Woolard, C. Diane Woolard, and K. Allen Woolard (Allen and Joy); her five grandchildren and her six great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, Harry Payne Harlow and Joyce Davis Harlow, Ann also was preceded in death by Bill, her husband of nearly 58 years.
Ann attended John Marshall High School with Bill and succeeded well in both her studies and in her accomplished singing talents. With her lovely voice, she enjoyed singing hymns at her home church, Bon Air United Methodist Church and later with the Jubilation Choir at Salisbury Presbyterian. Additionally, Ann was a wonderful and diligent secretary by trade and worked at the Foreign Mission Board as a director’s administrative assistant and at Huguenot Road Baptist Church as their church secretary. For fun, in addition to their bountiful spreads of food at family gatherings, Ann and Bill enjoyed both square dancing and sailing together as one.
The family is so thankful for the care she received at The Crossings of Bon Air and all the great caregivers at Westminster Canterbury of Richmond who tended to her as her care needs grew. They provided care beyond words.
Funeral services will be held September 9 at the Woody Funeral Home on Parham Road in Richmond. Visitation will be available starting at 10:00 AM in the Taylor Chapel, with the funeral set to begin at 11:00 AM. A reception will be held adjacent to the chapel immediately following the funeral service, with light fare provided. Interment will be conducted at 2:00 PM at Dale Memorial Park in Chesterfield, Virginia.
