

She was raised in Petersburg, Virginia and after graduating from Petersburg High School, went on to receive her Bachelor’s degree from Mary Baldwin College. After graduation, she moved to Richmond and became a Medical Technologist at the Medical College of Virginia, where she met her soon to be husband, “Bob,” who was in medical school at the time.
During the early days of their marriage, Bryant worked as a Medical Technologist in a local Pediatric office and after Bob completed his residency at MCV, they settled down in Richmond and raised their family. Bryant was an active member of Reveille United Methodist Church and the Wesleyan Sunday School class for 65 years. She joined several local Garden Clubs, the Tuckahoe Women’s Club, numerous Bridge Clubs, and was a member and volunteer of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. She visited the Richmond Symphony performances regularly, was an avid tennis player, exerciser/walker, beach-goer, world traveller, dog lover, and read any and all written material she could find. She was an extraordinary cook and a gracious entertainer. She included anyone and everyone in her gatherings. She loved being around her family and friends and meeting new people. She was often seen riding around Richmond showing off her “Hi MEMAW” license plates. Memaw was a loving, giving, thoughtful, and caring, well-loved individual by all who knew her.
Bryant was predeceased by her husband Dr. Robert Mason Pilcher Jr and her parents Dr. and Mrs. Thomas Bryant Pope. She is survived by her 3 children - Kathryn Pilcher Davis (Chris), Robert Mason Pilcher lll (Pam), Sarah Pilcher Gentry; her 9 grandchildren - Mason Davis Wright (Steven) and their children J.D. and Kate; Christopher Kent Davis Jr, Lucy Addison Davis, Robert Mason Pilcher lV (Spencer) and their 2 children Finn and Rory, Margaret Ann Pilcher, Cary Lofton Gentry Jr, Thomas Bryant Gentry, Sarah Kathryn Gentry, and Lily Obenchain Gentry.
The family will receive visitors on Friday, March 24th, from 4pm – 7pm at Woody Funeral Home on Parham Road in Richmond. A Memorial Service will be held at Reveille United Methodist Church, 4200 Cary Street Road, in Richmond at 1pm on Saturday, March 25th. A private burial will take place the following week. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Reveille United Methodist Church.
