

HOOE, Charles Edward Sr., 66, of Montpelier, passed away peacefully at home on March 24, 2012 with his family by his side. After his retirement from Colonial Pipeline, Ed spent his final years devoted to his best friend and wife of 49 years, Thelma Hall Hooe. Ed had many hobbies throughout his life, most notably canoeing, relic hunting and playing guitar, and he was passionate about sharing his interests with everyone around him. He is survived by his sons, Charles E. Hooe Jr. (Terre), Mechanicsville, and Robert S. Hooe (Jill), Goochland; six grandchildren, Eric Morton, Flagstaff, Ariz., Lindsey Morton, Austin Hooe and Savannah Hooe, Mechanicsville, Nicholas Hooe and Lexi Hooe, Goochland; two brothers, Stephen D. Hooe of Spotsylvania and Robert W. Hooe of Powhatan; as well as a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his infant sister, Shirley Ann Hooe; his parents, Edward S. and Gertrude D. Hooe; and his beloved grandmother, Nannie Duncan. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, at the Woody Funeral Home 1771 N. Parham Rd., Richmond, Va. 23229.
