Charles “Charlie” Joseph Tluchak, Jr., 93, passed away on October 16, 2021. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Patricia “Pat” Cloe Tluchak; siblings Steve Frank Tluchak, John Anthony Tluchak, and Josephine Maria Tluchak. Charlie was born in Isabella, PA to the late Charles and Maria Tluchak who moved and raised their children on the family farm in the Deep Creek section of Chesapeake VA.
Charlie enlisted as a Private (E-1) in the US Army in 1949, and while serving in the Korean War Charlie accepted an appointment as a commissioned officer. Following his military service Charlie earned a BS in Civil Engineering through the GI Bill from Virginia Polytechnic Institute. His 20 plus year career as a Civil Engineer with Amtrak led Charlie to settle in Richmond, VA.
Charlie was a “jack of all trades” who could fix or build most anything. Whether installing a new car stereo in an old truck, remodeling kitchens, cutting down trees, or constructing a garage from the ground up Charlie would graciously share his talents with friends and family in need. Charlie’s favorite past times were boating and fishing and rooting for the Hokies. Go Hokies! He was a man of few words but always strong in action.
Charlie is survived by his nephew Kevin Cloe (VA Beach, VA), brother and sister-in-law Richard and Frances Cloe (Richmond, VA), great nieces Isabella and Gabriella Cloe (VA Beach, VA), and close friends Paula Nichols and Ashley Nichols MacLaughlin (Richmond, VA).
A graveside service will be held Wednesday October 27, 2021 at 11 am at Greenwood Memorial. Condolences may be offered to at woodyfuneralhomeparham.com
