

David Pearce Penhallow II, 79, born on March 2, 1933 in Washington, DC died on February 25, 2013 at Henrico Doctors Hospital, Richmond, VA in the care of Hospice of Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Col. Dunlap Pearce and Katheryn Hitchcock Penhallow; and his sister, Virginia Penhallow Bowyer-Tagg. He moved with his family to Philadelphia, NY during WWII when his father was posted to Pine Camp, NY (now Ft. Drum). He attended the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and Hobart College. He served in the New York Army National Guard, the Virginia Army National Guard and the U.S. Army Reserves, retiring after 30 years of service with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He also worked a number of years for several Department of Defense contractors as an IT instructor, traveling to various military bases in Europe and the United States.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia Mallan Penhallow; his wonderful daughters, Sarah (Kenneth) Vostal, Summit, NJ and Anna Katheryn (Max) Travis, Richmond, VA. He will be so missed by his grandchildren, Joseph and Erin Vostal and Mallan and Abigail Travis; also surviving is his sister, Sally Jeffery, Mendham, NJ; nieces, Marion Hock, Mendham, NJ, Susan Fine, Montclair, NJ, Katheryn Hamilton, Munich, Germany; nephew, David Jeffery, Ft. Worth, TX.
The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2013 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 800 E. Grace St., Richmond, VA.
