Denise Nicole Abourjilie

Denise Nicole Abourjilie, affectionately known as “Pebbles”, 54, passed away Monday, May 29th 2023 in Richmond. Denise was born in Norfolk, VA to the late Eddie and Frankie Abourjilie. Denise is cherished in memory by her sister, Becky Stricklin, brother, Charlie Abourjilie, sister-in-law, Karen Abourjilie, nephews, Mathew Stricklin, Cole Abourjilie, Austin Abourjilie, niece, Jordan Abourjilie, as well as many family members and friends. She was also predeceased by her oldest nephew, Michael E. Stricklin.

Denise grew up in Virginia Beach, and then Miami, Florida, where she discovered her love for roller skating, music and close friends. It was in middle school that she moved with her family, to Richmond (“home”). After high school, she pursued her dream of becoming a hair stylist, earning her license in 1989.

Denise was known for her love and commitment to her many life-long friends, and her undying love of family. She was an enthusiastic fan of Michael Jackson and Prince, Bon Jovi, Rob Thomas and Adam Levine. She also enjoyed traveling to concerts with her friends and sister. Denise never met a stranger and loved meeting new people. In recent years Denise was saved and became a Christian, and she received much comfort from her growing faith in Jesus Christ.

A visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday, June 13th from 6-8:00 pm at Woody Funeral Home-Parham, 171 North Parham Rd., Richmond, Va. 23229. A burial and graveside service will be held Wednesday, June 14th at 2 pm at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 8100 Granby St., Norfolk, Va. 23502.
