

Donald Andrew Lynch, a longtime resident of Hampton, passed away on September 10, 2013 at the age of 79. He was born in Brooklyn, New York to the late William and Marie Lynch. Donald's second wife, Barbara Adabi Lynch preceded him in death in 2009. He is survived by two daughters from his first marriage, Janette Lynch Dickes and her husband Edward G. Dickes of Hampton, Virginia and Catherine Lynch Wornom and her husband Thomas A. Wornom of Brooklyn, New York. Donald is also survived by his sister Dorothy Fusco of Tallmadge, Ohio, his brother William Lynch of Brick, New Jersey, and his sister Mary Valvo of Coral Springs, Florida. Donald retired from the Air Force in 1976 in Hampton, Virginia, after 23 years of honorable service including two tours of duty in Vietnam and Thailand during the Vietnam War. After retiring from the Air Force he pursued a second career with the US Department of State's Civil Service Division. He retired from that career after 20 years of service, where his last position was with the Department of Navy's Yorktown Naval Weapons Station in York County, Virginia. Donald enjoyed getting his exercise by taking long walks, preferably in the company of one of his beloved dogs, Sammy and China, both of whom predeceased him. He was an avid fan of football, particularly of the Washington Redskins. Donald spent his final days at the Sitter and Barfoot Veterans Care Center in Richmond, Virginia. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at Sitter and Barfoot for the special care and respect he received during his stay there. The interment will be held at a later date at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk, Virginia.
