Doris R. Hubbard

HUBBARD, Doris Rathien, 106, of Fairfax, VA, formerly of Richmond, VA, went to be with the Lord, on Saturday, October 26, 2013. She was a retired high school English teacher who taught for four years at Hopewell High school, five years at Douglas Freeman High School and ten years at Henrico High School, where she chaired the English Department. In 1966 she was honored as Teacher of the Year in Henrico Schools. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Richmond and later Immanuel Bible Church in Springfield, VA. Doris is survived by three daughters, Doris Mae Copal (James), Beverly McCullough (Paul) and Virginia (Bette) Hartman (John); one brother, John Rathien. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Benjamin F. Hubbard, Jr., and one grandson; four sisters and one brother. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7pm Friday, November 1, 2013 at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd. where her funeral service will be held 2pm Saturday, November 2, 2013.
