

Dr. Alice Claire Culotta Giacobbe, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, formerly of Richmond, Virginia, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2013. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Ernest and Louise Freeman Culotta. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Dr. George A. Giacobbe; her son, Nicholas Samuel Giacobbe and his wife, Emilie Marie Schierloh Giacobbe; grandson, Samuel Robert Giacobbe; two brothers, Paul F. Culotta and David W. Culotta; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dr. Giacobbe was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. She received a Bachelors and Masters Degree from VCU and her Doctorate from the College of William and Mary. She was a special education teacher with Henrico County Public Schools and was a professor at Northeastern Illinois University and Oklahoma State University. She was a loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother, master teacher, patient mentor and a great cook.
The family will receive friends Monday, April 1, 2013, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd. A graveside service will be held later that day at 2:30 p.m. in Westhampton Memorial Park, 10000 Patterson Avenue, Richmond, Va. 23238.
