Edna Daniel Thorpe

THORPE, Edna Daniel, 84, passed away peacefully Monday, February 17, 2014 after a stroke. She was born on a farm in Lunenburg County on July 30, 1929. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Virginia Daniel; sister, Louise Mentzer; and two brothers, John and Robert Daniel. She is survived by three sons, Dr. Curtis Thorpe (Diana) of Drakes Branch, Va., Charles Thorpe (Debra) of Richmond, Va., Jimmy Thorpe of Chesterfield, Va., and friend, Kay Sirles. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Scott Thorpe, Stacy Anderson, Jeremy Thorpe, Sarah Thorpe, Daniel Thorpe, Butch Neal and Jennifer Shook; many great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Edna was a member of Colonial Place Christian Church, where she was a member of the Evergreens. She worked for Best Products for 25 years before retiring in 1994. She was happiest when she was spending time with her family and friends. She was a devoted mother, who will be dearly missed.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, February 20, at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd., where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, February 21, 2014. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. in Crestview Memorial Park, 18599 Highway One, LaCrosse, Va. 23950.
