

Emmett Carlton Vaughan, 86, of Richmond, died Thursday, August 5, 2010 at St. Mary’s Hospital. He was the son of the late Robert Emmett Vaughan and Lelia Bowman Vaughan of Ettrick. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Holt Vaughan; four sisters, Dorothy M. Vaughan (his twin), Virginia V. Stine, Catherine Vaden and Elizabeth V. Culbreath; and one brother, Robert R. Vaughan. Mr. Vaughan graduated from Petersburg High School and the College of William and Mary. He spent several years in the education field as both teacher and principal. He became a real estate broker and opened his business, E. Carlton Vaughan & Company in 1961.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Constance Wilton Vaughan and her family; his daughter, Cynthia V. Lantz (Ken); three granddaughters, Sarah Collier (Rob), Bonnie Lantz and Shelley Lantz; and Nina, his faithful canine friend and companion.
Mr. Vaughan was a member of Welborne United Methodist Church, attended Parham Road Baptist Church, where he enjoyed the friendship and fellowship of their church family; Hermitage Country Club; Powhatan Starke Lodge #124 and the ACCA Shriners.
The family will receive friends 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday at Welborne United Methodist Church, at the corner of Patterson Ave. and Maybeury Dr. Interment in Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Welborne United Methodist Church, Parham Road Baptist Church, or the charity of your choice.
