

Stewart, Fletcher A., passed away on Friday, January 21,2011. He was a member of the John Marshall Cadet Corp, A Company; An a very proud Navy man, an avid, "passionate" Redskin fan for 40 years; he was best known for his compassion and love for Border Collies. He was also a veteran of The Korean War. He was a proud member of Air group 17 that was stationed aboard the USS Midway during The Korean war. This air group received the presidential citation, the navy efficiency award for being the best squadron in the fleet at that time. Also numerous other decorations were awarded to the squadron. He also served on the USS Roosevelt CVB42; USS Coral-Sea CVB43; spending 39 months at sea in foreign duty, in the Mediterranean, Atlantic and Pacific. A member of the Memorial Rifles, member of the American Legion, Post 76; member of the DAV-Disabled Veterans lifetime member; Navy League; Union Brick Mason for 30 years;
He was preceded in death by his mother, Louise; father, Fletcher; sister, Bessie; and son, Bruce W. Stewart. He is survived by his wife, Audrey Cunningham Stewart; daughter, Joy S. Hendrick; grandchildren, Ashley, Josh, Alison, Chris, Kelly, Shelly, and three great-grandchildren, Carter, Grayson, and Ariana.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 pm Saturday, January 22, and Sunday, January 23, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm; at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 North Parham Road, where services will be held at 1pm. Monday, January24, 2011. Interment will be at Greenwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Memorial Rifles, C/O R. Dean Decker 1010 Borden Road, Rlchmond, VA 23229-6716. The Memorial Rifles is a volunteer group of American Veterans from all branches of military service.
