I have been out of the country and have just learned about sweet Helen's death.  Helen was our neighbor on Maple Shade Lane and she became an instant friend and life mentor.  She loved our little baby girl, Mary.  When we moved away from Maple Shade, Helen gave us a very special gift and she wrote a note explaining the significance of the sterling silver bottle opener.  I still have the note and as per her request, we use it often and always think of Helen.  I would love to share the note with her family if there is an interest.  RIP Helen, no doubt her sweet Johnny prepared a heavenly feast for her grand arrival into heaven.

To Mrs. Pangola's Family, 
I knew Mrs. Pangola through my Aunt Louise Smoot. I remember as a little girl going to visit my aunt and she would take me down to see Helen at the cabin. Helen taught me how to do the "hula hoop".  I had not talked to Helen in about 2 years. She was a dear friend of my aunts.  A very loving and caring person.  I am sure she will be dearly missed.  My sympahty goes out to all of her family.  I will keep you all in my prayers.

IN MAY OF 1946 HER BROTHER AND I, FRESH OUT OF NAVY BOOT CAMP, STOPPED BY HER HOME IN RICHMOND.. SHE DETECTED OUR NEED FOR POCKET CHANGE, SHE SLIPPED ME $5.00. I THINK I STILL OWE THAT DEBT. SHE AND JOHN HAVE BEEN A GOOD INFLUENCE ON MY LIFE. I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER THEM.

Helen is at Peace she will always live in our Hearts

Helen and her husband John bought their Rosedale neighborhood home brand new.  They were one of the first to move here.  I'll miss chatting with her.  She was always so pleasant and she always lifted my spirits.

    For many years Mrs Pangola was a trusted employee of Mrs. Pearl Wright at WRIGHT'S TOWNE HOUSE RESTAURANT on Azalea Ave in Richmond's northside.  When my wife and I purchased the business in the 1970's, Mrs. Pangola continued as our trusted employee until we ultimately sold the business years later.  Helen was loved by all and a considerate friend to many.  Helen was largely responsible for my becoming a Master Mason and she encouraged my catering efforts at ACCA Temple Shrine.  We will treasure her memory always.
   Our thoughts and prayers are with you all upon the death of this great lady.

I met Helen through the Richmond African Violet Society.  She was such a sweet lady and she'll be greatly missed.

Helen was a lovely lady.  Even though she was no longer an active member of the Richmond African Violet Society, she always attended our shows, and as a charter member of the Club, supported us in many ways.  She was a delight to talk to.  She will be greatly missed.
