

Hollis Wesley Bickel Jr., 85, of Richmond died on Thursday, May 8, 2014. He was born to the late Hollis and Esther Bickel on February 20, 1929 in Clarion, Pennsylvania.He was an Army veteran of the Korean War 1951 – 1952: Army 7th division - 17th infantry - K Company - Korea enlisted in the Navy served in Japan -Honorable Discharge 1953 – Reserve National Guard Venango County Pennsylvania and Richmond, Virginia. Hollis was a retired mechanic and Volunteer at Richmond Airport Museum. He was a member of Monument Heights Baptist Church, a member of the Masonic lodge, tobacco land chorus.
Hollis was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 36 years Shirley Elmore Bickel. He is survived by his children: Linda S. Beers & Raymond Beers Jr., Cynthia A. Newcomb, Judy Y. Kaufman & James Kaufman, Step Children: Anne White, Buddy Crumpton, Jeffery Crumpton, Eleven grandchildren Yvonne Cutchall, Shannon Cutchall, Sarah Goodyear, Aaryn Newcomb, Jason Newcomb, Tracy Delmonaco, Bryan Kaufman, Linsdey White, Adam White, Benjamin Crumpton, Gary Crumpton, and one Great Grandson Isaac Orien Kaufman
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 15, 2014, from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm at the Woody funeral home, 1771 N. Parham Rd. Richmond, VA.The funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Friday, May16, 2014 at 1:00pm with interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
