

Born in Clinchport, VA, Ivory Dinsmore passed away August 19, 2015, at the age of 92. He is survived by his loving wife of 69+ years, Mary Farris Dinsmore; his daughter, Diane Dinsmore, his son, Dan Dinsmore and Pam Edwards, his granddaughter, Katharine Fish and husband Brandon, and his great granddaughter, Eliza Jean Fish, as well as many cherished nieces and nephews and their families, special neighbors and friends. Ivory was a member of the "Greatest Generation" having served his country during WWII in the U.S.Army in Brazil and the Ascension Islands as a control tower and radio operator.
He was employed by Allied Chemical Company in Hopewell, VA for 25 years. Ivory was a longtime member of Mt Vernon Baptist Church and the Faith Sunday School class. Ivory will be remembered as a beloved husband, dedicated father and grandfather, loyal friend, expert gardener, antique lover, furniture refinisher, skillful winemaker, RV enthusiast, and fun-loving man. Ivory was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Jackson Dinsmore and Martha Blankenship Dinsmore as well as two brothers and four sisters.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 PM on Sunday, August 23, at Woody Funeral Home, Parham Chapel, 1771 N. Parham Rd. Richmond, Va. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Monday, August 24, at Woody Funeral Home, Parham Chapel. Interment Greenwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt Vernon Baptist Church, 11220 Nuckols Rd., Glen Allen, VA, 23059.
