

BIGGERS, James Barnes, 67, of Richmond, lost his battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) on May 15, 2014. He is survived by his wife, Carol Bryant Biggers; children, E. Marie Biggers of Leesburg, Va., Christopher S. Biggers of Chesterfield, Va. and Amy J. Zona and her husband, David, of Fairfax, Va.; grandchildren, Duncan and Camille Zona; siblings, Elizabeth Walker of Denton, Texas and William Biggers of Richmond, Va.; brother-in-law, M. Robert Bryant of Richmond, Va.; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was a graduate of the VCU School of Journalism and was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. Through the years, Jim enjoyed genealogy, antique collecting, was an avid reader and history buff. Jim was a proud grandfather, an award-winning wood artisan and a member of the Richmond Woodturners. A special thanks to Elaine, Jim's dedicated physical therapist, and the staff and Sunrise of Richmond Assisted Living Center for their loving care and support.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 2 p.m. with visitation one hour prior, at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd.
