James was a retired firefighter for the City of Richmond. He enjoyed fishing and gardening and vacations with his family at the Outer Banks
He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years Dorothy Brightwell, his two children: Kevin and his wife Kim and Diane and her husband Ray, and three grandchildren; Kyle, Jenna, and Mary.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at Woody Funeral Home, Parham Chapel, 1771 N. Parham Rd. Richmond, Va. from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and a funeral service on Friday at 12:30PM at the funeral home with interment following at Forest lawn Memorial Gardens at 2:00PM.
