Janie Lyle Higgins

Janie Lyle Higgins of Richmond, Virginia passed away peacefully on June 2, 2019. She was predeceased by her parents, Kenneth R. and Mary Douthat Higgins; infant nephew, Stuart Barton Higgins; her two cats, Barnie and Donnie; and her beloved Cairn Terrier, Toby. She is survived by her brothers, Kenneth Higgins (Mary Gay), and Ralph Barton Higgins (Nan Smith Higgins); sons, Robert Marshall Higgins, and Alexander Barton Higgins; and nephew, Bart Higgins. She was born in Richmond, Virginia, and graduated from Douglas Southall Freeman High School, then Marjorie Webster College. After working with a prominent advertising firm in Richmond for some time, she moved to Texas, then to Florida where she worked for the Eddy Corporation while enjoying the beach and fishing. In 1994, she returned to Richmond to restore an early 19th century brick barn into a residence for herself as she assisted the family and her parents as their health declined. She was an avid fisherman, beader and Mahjong player and will be dearly missed by her family and many friends. Services will be private.
