Janis Ingram-Griggs, 68, joined her Lord and Savior in Heaven on July 25, 2021. She was predeceased by her beloved parents Doris and Wales Ingram. Janis graduated from Huguenot High School in 1971 and received her Bachelor’s in Education at Virginia Tech in 1975. After her graduation, she began her long and fruitful career as a teacher with Chesterfield County Public Schools. A true servant’s heart, Janis had a passion for teaching and compassion for all. Her love of teaching shone especially bright for her second-grade class, of which she taught 11 of her 32 years in teaching. One of her greatest joys in life was motherhood, where her boundless love and kindness was evident to all. She is survived by her daughters, Lauren Griggs and Megan Nightingale (Doug), her sister Nancy Mitchell (Rick), her granddaughter Ella Nightingale, and her nephew Brandon Mitchell (Holly, Beau, and Henley). She is also survived by dear friends and countless hearts touched during her time at Lakewood Retirement Community in Henrico, VA. A selfless and generous spirit, Janis had a smile and kind word for everyone she met. She will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. A service will be held at Lakewood (1900 Lauderdale Drive) Friday August 6, at 11 am. Contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice or Lakewood’s Benevolent Fund in her honor.
