

John Howard Ingram, a prominent home builder and developer in the Richmond area died November 27, 2015. He was 96 years old. John was married to Sue Raney Ingram for over 70 years before she died in 2012.
He is survived by his three daughters, Randy Johnson and her husband, Tom, Anne Meadows and her husband, Buck and Nancy Ingram and her husband, Max Schools; his grandchildren, Anne Carter Plashal and her husband John, Liz Hunter and her husband Chris Redlack, Katie McCarty and Andrew Smith, Marshall Schools, Bryan Schools and his wife Brooke; his great grandchildren, Caroline, Julia and Jack Plashal, Jamie Redlack, and Jack and Carter Schools.
Born in Randolph County, North Carolina, John was the son of Theodore Lyman Ingram and Mamie Vickery Ingram. He lived in Chase City before moving to Richmond and was a resident of Cedarfield at the time of his death.
John was the oldest of thirteen children - seven sisters and five brothers. He is survived by his sisters, Martha Robertson of Glen Allen, Nancy V. Ingram of Danville, Mary French and her husband Eddie of Midlothian and Ruth Dean of Charlotte Court House; brothers, James Braxton Ingram of New Canton and Walter Ingram and his wife Doris of Skipwith.
A graduate of Chase City High School, John also attended North Carolina State University. He was a long time member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Always wanting to help, his work crew was often called to paint and make improvements on the church building. He was a member of Hermitage County Club, as he loved to golf and did so well into his 80’s.
John was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of the Home Builders Association, the Richmond Board of Realtors, West Richmond Business Men’s Association and the Suburban Sertoma Club.
The family would particularly like to thank Patty Hancock for the 11 years of care and companionship she gave to both John and Sue. In addition, a special thanks goes to the staff of Cedarfield Health Care and to Mildred Settle and Monica Pryor Benson for their many hours of care and friendship. Thank you to Jody McWilliams from TUMC who visited John often.
The family will receive visitors Sunday, November 29th from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm at the Parham Chapel Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd. Following an 11:00 am graveside service at Hollywood Cemetery on Monday, November 30th, a memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall at Cedarfield.
