

Freeman, Joseph Brent of Richmond, a beloved son and friend to many, died peacefully at home on February 12, 2013. He was preceded in death by his father, James (Dave) Walter Freeman. He is survived by his mother, Sara Freeman Allen, and step father, Ashby Bridgforth Allen. He is also survived by his half sister, Mila Freeman, of Sarasota, FL, three half brothers, Walter Freeman, of Clearwater, FL, Larry Freeman of Granite Bay, CA, and Mark Freeman of St. Petersburg, FL. Other surviving family members are his step brothers, Ashby Bridgforth Allen and Charles Littlepage Allen and step sisters, Rebecca Warren Allen and Mary Francis Allen, and step nephews, Robert Allen, Zach and Jonathan Cogan and step nieces, Page and Mary Margaret Allen, and Ashby Cogan. Joe was also loved by many aunts and cousins. Joe was born on Oct. 31, 1962. He graduated from Douglas Freeman High School. Joe, who was a talented sculptor, attended J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College where he studied sculpture. Later he studied audio engineering in NYC. Joe had many interests including science and music and worked in several different fields. He was a people person who was passionate about animals. A memorial service will be held Sunday, February 17, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd., Richmond, Va. 23229. The family will receive friends after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association or the SPCA.
