She is survived by her sister Diana (Hale) Jensen (Nick, Derwood, MD); three children, Jynie Riddick (John, Charleston, SC); Benjamin Young (Kristen, Fargo, ND); Adam Young (Jacquelyn Mechanicsville, VA); grandchildren Varence, Valerie and Lexie Young; and several step- grandchildren and a step-great grandchild.
Following a laryngectomy 7 years ago, via Facebook and text, Karyn kept in touch with high school friends, a plethora of cousins, and many friends in the Richmond area, who have helped and supported her through the years. She enjoyed communicating with everyone, and displayed a strong and positive attitude throughout her life. She was an amazing mother, and loved by all that had the privileged opportunity to know her.
A memorial gathering will be held at Woody Funeral Home-Parham, 1771 N Parham Rd, Richmond, Virginia 23229, on May 23, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, with family remarks beginning at 3:30 PM.
