Leonard Ray Bailey Jr.

BAILEY, Leonard "Ray" Jr., 64, of Glen Allen, Va., died Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Henrico Doctors' Hospital in Richmond, Va. Ray was born August 24, 1947 in Arlington, Va. of the late Leonard Ray Sr. and Martha Goddard Bailey. Ray graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute in 1970 and served in the Army National Guard from 1970 thru 1976. Ray retired from Exxon Corporation, Houston, Texas, and returned to Richmond, Va., where he established and operated his own business, Bailey Oil Company. Ray officially retired in 2007 to Glen Allen, Va. Ray was an avid Hokies fan and enjoyed attending football games, traveling, visiting relatives, frequent trips to Nags Head, N.C., and local performing arts and museums. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jeffry Bailey. Surviving are a brother, Woodrow Bailey of Gastonia, N.C.; sister, Marjorie Bailey of Grottoes, Va.; and two daughters, Meredith and Kimberly Bailey. His funeral will be held at the graveside in Greenwood Memorial Gardens, 12609 Patterson Avenue, Richmond, Va. 23238, at 11 a.m. Sunday May 6, 2012. Rev. Roger Downey will be presiding.
