Lola Vaughan Barrow

Lola Vaughan Barrow, 89, of Richmond, VA passed away on November 1 2022. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John S Barrow, Sr. Lola is survived by her son, John S Barrow, Jr (Marie), daughter, Lori Johnson (Chris), beloved sister-in-law, Betty Voltz, devoted cousin Dale Ball; grandchildren, Anna Barrow, Brynn Barrow, Beau Barrow, and Olivia Johnson; and many loved extended family members.

Lola was born in Petersburg, VA and attended Petersburg High School where she competed in basketball, field hockey, and was a member of the marching band. Upon graduation she received her R.N. from JW School of Nursing, creating lifelong friendships with many classmates and colleagues. Lola worked at Johnston-Willis Hospital and Bon Secours St. Mary’s Hospital for 43 years as a Labor and Delivery nurse.

She was a longtime member of Westhampton Baptist Church and later at 2nd Baptist Church.

In her later years Lola enjoyed time spent with friends and family, whether that was trips to the beach, playing cards, getting her hair done, or catching up with her grandchildren. Shopping and frequent stops to local eateries were also favorite pastimes. Her smile and warm heart were always available to anyone who had the time.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 9, at Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd. Richmond, Va., from 6 pm - 8 pm. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, November 10, at Woody Funeral Home on N. Parham Rd. Interment will follow at Westhampton Memorial Park, 10000 Patterson Ave, Richmond, VA 23238.
