

On May 10, 2016 Lowell Delano Rourk, entered into eternal life. He was a devoted and loving husband to his wife of, Patricia McDonald Rourk, Loving father to his children Rori and William. Every father carries a dream for his children to become honorable, caring and responsible adults and fulfill their own dreams. He loved and supported his children in their endeavors to be the responsible, successful people they have become and was proud of their achievements and success in all they accomplished. He had a very special with his two grandsons, Tiernan and Aidan Rourk, and daughter- in -law. Sarah. He was a loving son to his late mother, Annie Rourk Harris, taking special care of her needs in her later years in life. He also held a special place in the heart of his late mother-in-law, Susie McDonald who looked upon him as a trusted friend. He valued the special relationships he had with his late brothers, Elmore and William, & Sister Ethel Poplin, and his relatives in South Carolina, and other family members in North Carolina including his late brother- in-law O.B McDonald, Jr., and family, in addition to many cousins, nieces and nephews, from both sides of the family. He will be missed and lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, children, family, and friends.
He proudly served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean Conflict. Upon leaving the marines, he entered college and graduated from Richmond Professional Institute (now VCU) with a BS in Business. He was employed by a CPA firm in Richmond for a number of years and was transferred to Fredericksburg, VA. He left the accounting firm to become Asst. Treas. of the Natural Gas Company in Fredericksburg, which later became a part of Commonwealth Natural Gas, and is not Columbia Gas. He was transferred back to Richmond and sometime later started their first data processing center. He was the Director of Data processing for Columbia Gas Corp. for many years and retired in 1994. He was a longtime member of St. Martin's Episcopal Church, and as a young man served as an acolyte for several years at St. Peters by the Sea Episcopal Church in N. Charleston, S.C. Over his lifetime he was generous in giving to others, including his church and especially those charities who helped children and families in need. He lived a life of service to his family, his country and to the community. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 2nd Timothy--4:7
A visitation will take place at St Martin’s Episcopal Church, on May 16, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. interment will be private at the conclusion of the service. Online condolences received at woodyfuneralhomeparham.com.
