

BRYANT, Mae Belle, 88, of Richmond, Va., went to be with her Lord on March 22, 2011. She was born in the Crystal Hill area of Halifax County, Va. on October 8, 1922 to Joe and Sally Owen. She was the widow of Ores S. Bryant, who died March 17, 2001. Mae is survived by her two children, Dan Bryant and his wife, Ella, and Bette Satterwhite and her husband, Ray, both of Richmond; grandchildren, Mark Bryant and his wife, Rachel, Kristen Satterwhite, Sarah Bryant and Bryan Satterwhite; great-grandson, Carter Bryant; sisters who were part of the Owen family, Grace Beasley and her husband, Ben, Liz Phillips, Rozelle Coker and her husband, Bob, Alice Smith and her husband, Buddy, Dee Rutledge and her husband, Len; two brothers-in-law, Nick Nichols and Dale Cole; and 31 nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her four brothers, Coy Owen, William Owen, Harry Owen and Thomas Owen; her five sisters, Nerene Williams, Mary Miller, Ester Waller, Carrie Nichols and Jewel Cole; three brothers-in-law, Wilmer Phillips, Eddie Williams and G.K. Miller; and three sisters-in-law, Ruby Owen, Kay Owen and Eleanor Owen.
Mae Belle graduated from Volens High School, Volens, Va. in 1940 and came to Richmond in 1942, working for Thalhimers and DuPont before completing studies and Pan American Business School. She worked for and retired from the Defense General Supply Center at Bellwood with 30 years of service. Mae Belle enjoyed the company of friends at Trinity United Methodist Church, Tri-Club Friends of Henrico Doctors' Hospital and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. She loved socializing, enjoyed singing and being with people and had a large host of friends that she adored.
The family will receive friends Thursday, March 24, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Road. A service will be held Friday, March 25, 2011 at 1 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 903 Forest Ave., Richmond, Va. 23229. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church or Tuckahoe Volunteer Rescue Squad, 1101 Horsepen Road, Richmond, Va. 23229.
